Abstract

Intelligent Decision Support Systems (IDSS) have the potential to revolutionize the field of dentistry by assisting clinicians in making informed decisions during treatment planning. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the current state of IDSS for dental treatment planning, highlighting their benefits, challenges, and future directions. We discuss various AI techniques employed in these systems, such as machine learning, deep learning, and expert systems, and their applications in different aspects of treatment planning, including diagnosis, treatment selection, and outcome prediction. Additionally, we explore the integration of IDSS with existing dental practice management software and electronic health records to enhance workflow efficiency and patient care. Furthermore, we discuss the ethical and legal considerations associated with the use of IDSS in dentistry. Finally, we propose future research directions to enhance the effectiveness and usability of IDSS in dental practice.
